Day 43 - Gordanvale to Babinda Boulders - 40km
It's good to be back on the road and I'll be sticking to the Bruce highway for a while, it has a nice shoulder but plenty of traffic.
The cane fields are just breathtaking, vast fields of sugar cane, at different heights, surrounded by ranges. As I ride through them I see farmers at different stages of the crop. Piecing together the whole process as I go. Burn offs, ploughing the fields, planting, growing, harvesting, loading on cane trains. The cane trains on tiny tracks slowly winding along with dozens of carriages, crossing roads and making there way to the nearest sugar refinery. The refinery's them self are huge industrial buildings with great chimneys pumping out sweet smelling steam.
It makes for a great ride, I made it to the Boulders dripping in sweat and thanks to my small tent and bike squeeze in yo the full campsite. Setting up and then heading down for a well needed swim in the crystal clear water.
