Day 57 - Calliope to Granite Creek - 102km
Not sure if it's the weekend or it's just normal up here but there have been plenty of bikies riding around in groups, giving me a wave as they pass by.
Roadworks continue along the Bruce and I passed through 3 sets of traffic lights, pedalling as hard as I could, knowing that the lights are automatic and cars could come towards me at any point. Luckily it's the weekend and little works are being done so I can slip across the cones and ride along the new road.
I stopped at Granite Creek, a small camp site with toilets and appears to be a common toilet stop. Lots of people with horses coming through some even letting the horse out to stretch their legs and chew some grass.
A local roofer gave me a beer and we had a chat, he loves the tropics and has plenty of work at the moment, insurance jobs from hail storms and previous cyclones.
