Day 50 - Ravenswood to top of hill - 92km
One of the reasons I rode this way was to ride across the giant spillway of Burdekin Dam. I heard it had spilt over a few weeks back. As ypubturm the corner you can't help but be impressed by it's size, water was pumping out through a relief valve and forming a river. The road then turns as you drive undulating at the bottom of the huge concrete spillway, just imagining at any second water could just flow over the top. Was worth the ride.
The road turned to gravel and a mix of steep decline to steep accents at every dry creek bed. I have a rule on this trip and that is to never stop at the bottom of a hill and only at the top. As the sun got lower in the sky I found a nice hill top and set up camp.
